Brothers

"Like some other brothers in the our chapter, fraternities weren't even on my radar entering school. In summer classes before school started (SEP) though the TA for my math class happened to be an Alumni from our chapter. Those few weeks I was able to see the connection and impact he and his brothers had on each other, and it persuaded me to join two semesters later. It has since been the biggest and most fulfilling part of my college life as I have grown to fill all the possibilities that being in this fraternity has to offer."

"I was first introduced to SPD at New Years party at Rutgers University in New Jersey, where the Omega chapter is located. I was a freshman and I was planning on joining a fraternity the following semester. I originally planned on joining a traditional social fraternity, but to this day joining Sigma Phi Delta was the best decision I have ever made in college, for it offers what no other fraternity can."

"Joining Sigma Phi Delta has been one of the best decisions I have made in college. I never planned on joining a fraternity in college. As a matter of fact, I hated the idea of fraternities. However, after meeting some of the brothers and hearing the benefits that the fraternity could offer, I decided to take a chance. Since joining the fraternity, I have seen improvement in all parts of my life. I have developed strong friendships with my brothers and have met people outside of the fraternity that I would not have met on a regular basis. Sigma Phi Delta gave me the opportunity to network toward finding a job after graduation and I can thank the fraternity for helping me find a great internship this past summer. I have become more focused on life and my goals as well. The great times I have had so far and in the upcoming year I will remember for the rest of my life."

"There are a lot of people who want to be engineers. Engineering jobs are in high demand, the starting salaries are higher than in almost any other major, and the work is rewarding. Why is it then that two thirds of every freshman engineering class will not graduate as engineers? As a senior I can tell you, the work is rigorous and any free time is few and far between. I have seen time after time, students who couldn’t keep up in their work and had no means of support to get them back on track. This is why I joined Sigma Phi Delta. This fraternity of engineers understands the unique difficulties undergrad engineers go through, and we can help you not only get though your classes but help you excel to the top of your class as many of our alumni have done. Beyond academics we have realized a happy mind is a productive mind which is why we frequently are having actives going on during the week and on the weekends. I can say with complete certainty that joining Sigma Phi Delta is by far one of the best decisions I have ever made and the main reason I will graduate as an engineer."

"This is a picture of me outdoors when I was Australia on a Study Abroad trip last winter. These are two of my passions. I enjoy traveling and being outdoors, whether by an ocean, rafting down a river, exploring caves and woods, or skiing down the slopes in the winter. When I'm not outdoors, I can be found most likely hanging out with my fellow brothers. Joining Sigma Phi Delta has been one of the best decisions that I've made in college as I've gotten so much out of it whether it has been academically or socially. I wouldn't want to be a part of any other fraternity."

"I first rushed for many reasons. I wanted to try something new. I wanted leave college having no regrets. I wanted to meet a core group of people that I can relate to. For me the brotherhood gave me more than that. I am constantly enjoying many new experiences with the fraternity. I am in the brotherhood and sure that I won't look back and regret anything. Also, besides just gaining people I can relate to, I have gained brothers."

Michael "Grease" Harbison

"I've always been interested in building things, so Civil Engineering was a natural choice for me once I started looking at possible majors. Joining Sigma Phi Delta during my freshman year might have been the best decision that I could have made. Through the fraternity, I've gained a great deal of leadership skills, self-confidence, and many other skills all while having a great time with a close community of engineers."

"I joined Sigma Phi Delta simply to meet new people. However when I first went to a rush event, I was nervous that it might be awkward meeting all of the brothers. But after the initial introductions, I felt as if I belonged. I soon learned that SPD held great potential to take leadership roles as soon as you became a brother. Also, SPD understood the workload of an engineer and could provide connections and help while I was in school and in the future. After going the through the pledging process, I never looked back. Becoming a brother has allowed me to experience many things that I would have otherwise not: touring Yuengling Brewery, planning brotherhood events, eating large quantities of Philly Cheesesteaks, and making friendships that will last a lifetime."
